"Baltimore Ravens" linebacker Roquan Smith has been fined $16,000 by the NFL for an illegal tackle in a game against the "Tampa Bay Buccaneers".

As a result of the tackle, receiver Chris Godwin earned a sprained ankle. After the game, it became known that the player will not return to the field this season.
Smith used a so-called hip-drop tackle - a hip grab followed by a forceful pulling the player to the ground. This type of tackle was banned by the league before the season started.
Earlier this season, "Houston Texans" running back Joe Mixon was injured due to a similar tackle. In both cases, the officiating crew did not record an infraction.
Godwin, 28, has caught 50 passes for 576 yards with 5 touchdowns in 7 games.
