Former "New England Patriots" head coach Bill Belichick will soon be officially introduced as the head coach of the "North Carolina Tar Heels" student-athlete.
The 72-year-old specialist has agreed to a 5-year contract with the university.
He will be paired with general manager Michael Lombardi, with whom he worked with the "Patriots" from 2016-2018, at the university.
Belichick is also expected to be joined by his son Steve, who served last season as defensive coordinator for the University of Washington team.
Belichick left "New England" at the conclusion of the 2023 season after 24 years on the job. As head coach of the "Patriots", Belichick won 6 Super Bowls and 2 more as the "New York Giants" defensive coordinator.
Belichick has previously stated that he wants to make a team at the college level that will professionally prepare players for the NFL.
